My Bio
Avast, Ye bloomin' cockroaches! The names Captain Hector Barbossa. Those of ye who 'ave heard of me can call me Captain Barbossa. I'm the former captain of The Maelstrom, Cobra, Black Pearl, Hai Peng, and The HMS Providence. And the present captain of The Queen Anne's Revenge. Currently, I be sailing' the waters of The Sea in me neverendin' search fer freedom with me most favored crewmate and friend, Jack, the monkey.

True to his Scotch/Irish heritage, whisky is his spirit of choice. He is known to go out of his way to attack and raid merchant ships rumored to be carrying casks of the drink – especially those ships originating from Ireland or Scotland. He keeps a secret stash of the best whisky for his own pleasure hidden within his cabin. Whenever he acquires a decent size shipment of whisky he tends to favor Nassau where the payment for such a prize is greater than can be had in Tortuga or other ports known to be pirate-friendly.

Ships:

Maelstrom

Formally a merchant vessel (captain unknown) but was abandoned in Tortuga when most of the crew and her captain died from the fever. Rumors of a plague on board the ship only added to her neglected state. Barbossa and his crew repaired her and brought her back to life, refitting the vessel from a cargo ship to one better suited for piracy.

Class: Brigantine.

Length: 80ft.

Beam: 23ft.

Crew: 50 (but can be crewed by as few as 12, if necessary).

Masts: 2.

Rigging: Square rigged on the foremast, with fore-and-aft sails on the mainmast and stay-sails set between the masts.

Armament: 4 Swivels, 12 Guns, 2 Stern Chasers.

Cobra

It is unknown how Barbossa obtained Cobra, by stealing it or in some other way. When Cobra attacked and plundered a French barque loaded with ivory, she sailed to the waters north of Bermuda. She was soon spotted by a mysterious sloop, which turned out to be a pirate ship too. But surprisingly, the mysterious sloop opened fire on Cobra. After the long, heavy fighting, Cobra sank to the bottom of the ocean. Barbossa almost drowned in a futile attempt to save Polly, his pet monkey, but he was saved by two of his crewmembers, Pintel and Ragetti.

Two months later, Barbossa and his men were picked up in Tortuga by Don Rafael, Pirate Lord of the Caribbean. Don Rafael took them to Shipwreck Cove, where Barbossa told the tale of his disaster to assembled pirates.

Captain: Hector Barbossa.

Class: Schooner.

Masts: 2.

Black Pearl

(Barbossa's command)

Misfortune struck the Pearl's crew, however, as the Aztec gold they found in the chest of Cortés was cursed, and turned them into the living dead. Over the next decade, they attempted to reclaim all 882 pieces of Cortés' treasure they had so carelessly frittered away, in order to reverse the effects of the curse. Although The Black Pearl herself was not cursed, she appeared to have been affected by the curse; she now operated with pitch-black sails ripped in many places, yet was still known as the fastest ship in the Caribbean. Further, a shroud of thick fog seemed to follow the Pearl wherever she sailed.

The Black Pearl's exploits became infamous over the next ten years. Some had heard the stories of the dreaded ship, that she had sailed the waters of the Caribbean, preying on towns and vessels. Without warning, she would appear out of the night and attack, leaving nothing nothing but chaos and destruction in her path. The Black Pearl became a legend, an old ghost story told to young children to scare them. Although Mullroy scoffed upon hearing the ship's name from Jack Sparrow, he argued about if the Pearl was real or not with Murtogg, who claimed to have seen it.

On one occasion, the Black Pearl sunk a British merchant vessel carrying young Will Turner. Unbeknownst to the crew, Turner was actually carrying the final coin needed to lift the curse, though the medallion was later taken by Elizabeth Swann aboard the HMS Dauntless. While taking a look at the medallion, Elizabeth caught movement out of the corner of her eye: a ship with tattered black sails, moving silently through the thick fog, hoisting a flag with a skull. For unknown reasons, around the initial appearance of the Dauntless, the Black Pearl left without getting neither Will nor the coin. Either because of the pirates taking off, discretion being the better part of valor, or they were simply lost in the fog.

The Hai Peng would be destroyed as it fell through a waterfall and ended up at the Locker.

HMS Providence

The HMS Providence was a three-masted ship-of-war in the British Royal Navy serving under King George II, most notably under the command of pirate turned privateer, Captain Hector Barbossa. With its oversized Union Jack billowing in the breeze, the Providence was the pride of the King's fleet.

Built for battle, square-rigged for speed, and equipped for long tours of duty, there was no frigate better prepared or commissioned into His Majesty's service. Although the ship's main purpose was to patrol the seas and eradicate piracy, the Providence was most notably used during the perilous quest for the Fountain of Youth. With the help of navigator Joshamee Gibbs, Captain Barbossa led his crew to provide he most formidable task force His Majesty could assemble as this worthy vessel sailed forth on its quest without fear. Throughout the voyage to find the Fountain, the Providence encountered the Spanish Armada through the Atlantic Ocean and sailed to the mysterious Whitecap Bay.

Captain: Hector Barbossa.

Class: Frigate.

Beam: 28 ft.

Crew: 100 (It can be crewed by as little as 50 if necessary).

Queen Anne's Revenge

During the quest the Fountain of Youth, Blackbeard held no ordinary ship's crew, but a crew consisting of a mixture of humans and zombies, led by his daughter Angelica. Several days after being shanghaied aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, Jack Sparrow used his lowly position as mere crewman to lead a mutiny against the zombie officers. However, the revolt was foiled when Blackbeard himself appeared and used the Sword of Triton to spring the sinister ship to life, in which Jack's crew of mutineers got caught in its rigging. Throughout the quest, Jack and Angelica danced on deck, the Revenge partook in the mermaid hunt at Whitecap Bay, and was docked in a cove of a mysterious island for the remained of the journey to the Fountain. After the death of Blackbeard, the Queen Anne's Revenge and its crew would be led by Hector Barbossa.

In the cave of a Mysterious Island relatively close to Yucatan, Captain Barbossa was searching for some sort of Legendary Treasure designed to bring down any Ancient god or goddess. He ordered only his two most loyal crewmembers, Pintel and Ragetti to stand guard at the cave entrance. He then entered the cave alone. He hauled out the Sword of Triton and held it at the ready as he proceeded. In his left hand, he held a torch to light the way inside the dark cavern. When he reached the end of the cavern, he found a placeholder for his torch. So, he placed the torch there. The torch lit up the entire end of the cavern, revealing several large ch
